playing catch-up

So, since my last post 12 days ago, a lot has happened. Mike’s dad and his wife Jan came to visit for a few days. They bought a motorhome in Spokane and drove over to show it off and have the tow hitch put on for their car before heading back to Sun Valley. It was great to see them, but also an unexpected 3 nights of family dinners and celebration.

Then I had a bachelorette party to help host for a friend of mine that got married this weekend. We went out dancing at a local bar with a live band – it was a lot of fun, but definitely reminded me of why that’s not how I usually spend my Saturday nights. That Sunday it rained and Mike and I went driving around looking at houses for sale. The old debate about whether to give up our cheap mortgage and labor of love here in the city in exchange for double the payment on a half acre or more with a bigger house a bit further out has come up again. I think, as in the past, we’ll decide to stay put until we’re ready to leave the metro area all together.

Last week I got hit by what I thought was a bad cold but turns out is a nasty sinus infection (finally gave up and went to the doctor today). I was down for the count most of last week. Then Friday night was the rehearsal dinner, Saturday was the wedding and yesterday I participated in a 100 mile adventure relay race. Wow – that exhausts me just reading it. So, details…

The race was the most fun of all of them. We didn’t do that great, but we didn’t humiliate ourselves either. We came in not last. My miserable sinus infection definitely affected my enjoyment of the event, but overall, what fun! As a result of being gone all day both Sat and Sun I didn’t make it to the farmer’s market, the co-op or Central Market this weekend. Sooo, our One Local meal is going to happen on Wed night. I’m planning to go the Mukilteo farmer’s market and the co-op on my way home from work to get everything we need to have a fabulous local omelette and salad, using our own eggs of course. So stay tuned for photos and a recap later this week.

Now as a parting, and just for fun, a picture from last week of Agnes in her Sessions beer box nest.
