Summer Vacation: Day 8
Jul 27th, 2007 by Laura
Ely, MN to Wayzata, MN
On Friday morning Mike and I took a final paddle with my mom, packed up our gear and loaded our new ski boat on it’s trailer. My dad sold us his Sea Ray for $1, it costs him an awful lot to store and maintain it and they only use it 2 weeks a year. So for $1 and about $150 extra in diesel to get home, we are now the proud owners of a 1992 21′ boat. Wow, thanks Dad!
After loading up we went into town for the Blueberry Festival. We admired the cool crafts and art, had some lunch and said our goodbyes to family and friends. We got on the road about 2:15 pm and drove down to the Twin Cities to have dinner with my friend Sarah and her husband Mike. We also got our first peak at their very cute son Nathan. Next time we’ll have to visit when he’s awake!
Sarah and Mike introduced us to Cafe Twentyeight in Lynden Hills. They brew their own beer, fabulous by the way, and serve a solid selection of local meats and produce mixed with the best from other regions as well. I would highly recommend it to anyone living in or visiting the area - but be sure to make a reservation if you decide to go!
We got back to my folks house just before midnight and crashed out for a few hours of sleep before heading out on our drive home early the next morning.
