This is it, the photo that will be published in a July issue of a to-be-named magazine. The ladies will be famous! Personally, I found trying to get a shot that they deemed acceptable to be exhausting. With the ongoing heat, the girls did not want to spend time grazing near the coop. They wanted to be up in the shade near the patio and the house. But that wasn’t the picture that was called for, and the light was never right to make that shot work anyway.
Getting this one required 4 differents days of photo taking, with me sitting in the grass for 45 minutes at a time waiting for the girls to walk by, be looking up, and not be moving too fast. I tried shooing them, bribing them with corn, having Mike corral them, all types of things. Thank god photographing chickens is not my day job – I think I’d be certifiable in no time!

What a great photo!
Thanks! I took about 400 pictures in the last week. Glad that one finally worked out and was print worthy.
