The chicks are at that stage where they’re cute from a distance, ugly up close and cute again when you’re all the way there. They’ve got about 60% of their feathers. Still fuzz on the neck and the belly and naked under the wings. But cute! nonetheless.

Maisie seems to have broken the long toe on one foot. It’s slightly crooked and she’s taking kind of limping hopping steps and standing on one foot most of the time. Poor baby! The rest of her foot and leg seem okay. Not much to do for it but hope that she keeps eating through the pain and eventually recovers. Oh well, this wouldn’t be my life if there wasn’t some kind of minor drama all the time.

I finally got some new pics of them - but they’re a bit blurry as they didn’t want to stand still. And why yes, we do need to mow our back yard, thanks for noticing!
