Tonight my fabulous friend Shannon (hi Shannon!) invited me to go to Fiori Floral Design with her for a three-hour flower arranging class. Fiori specializes in pave style design and is the only EnviroStar rated florist in Seattle. I’ve always admired their flowers and lusted after them when we were planning our wedding so it was a real treat to see how it’s done.
Miles and Leigh were fabulous, explaining each step in detail and helping with minor (and major) adjustments to each student’s work. What I found most fascinating was that we all used the same “recipe” for our designs, yet each of us ended up with a totally unique creation. Each and everyone of them was gorgeous. They could have been the centerpieces for a fabulous fall wedding.
I’m going to put my skills to work this weekend with flowers from the Sunday market. I can’t wait to create something on my own – but I’m guessing nothing I do alone will be as beautiful as what we created tonight. Here are a few photos of the arrangement I created – there are more at Flickr from tonight and I’m planning to take some more tomorrow when I’ve got daylight to work with.
