This sounds like my kind of cook. I took a food writing course last winter and I understand why people insist on recipes being written the way they are--for the people who are just starting out or who really, really need to know what to do before they try something.

But so many times I've put something together and really don't care what the measurements are. Still, I dutifully measure things instead of eyeballing them, write it all down, so I can post. Maybe I'll throw that all out the window. But food editors don't like that, I'm told.

We lived on apples and pears last year. We never tired of them. I did panic a little a few weeks ago about nectarines and peaches, but I'm not embracing the appleness and pearness of my life. It's practically impossible to screw these fruits up.

Hi there, I read your blog and was happy to find that someone else besides myself loves cook books. Before when I was married I had several, a small collection you might say and I used them often making the most delicious dishes by adding my own touches to numerous recipes that I pawned off on family and friends as my little taste testers to give me their honest opinions on.

My grandmother taught me how to cook without measurements too. I love adding a pinch of this a splash of that and a dash of that over yonder to give food new found taste.

Here's to many more years of your successfully preparing meals in the kitchen. Perhaps you have a favorite recipe for apple pie you wouldn't mind sharing. I have an apple tree in the front yard that I just picked some fresh apples from that I am sure would be great in an apple pie!
