Going for it
Dec 22nd, 2007 by Laura
We’ve found the house we want and we’re working out that side of the deal. I don’t want to jinx it so I won’t be posting anything about it here until it’s a done deal. However, the flip side of finding the house we want is that we have to sell the house we have.
Starting today we’re essentially working on it straight through for the next week to get it ready to go on the market on Jan 2 or 3. So if you don’t hear from me that often, it’s because I’m packing, painting, weeding and generally sprucing up.
So that I feel like we’re making progress, here’s the list of everything that has to be done…
*****

- Clean out 1/2 the contents of the open cupboards and wipe everything down- Touch up cabinet paint
- Put up remaining trim and prime / paint all of it-
Declutter the counters and closed cabinets

At a most cursory glance, I caught the “storing kayaks and bikes” on the list.
Remember, if you can do it snazzily (can’t believe I just used that word), if you can make it look good - leave them. It’s like an REI commercial built into your house, Portlanders love the outdoorsy stuff and bikes, consider just sprucing them up and keeping them around. Could be good for your sale.
Good for you! How exciting! One of my friends just put an offer on a house as well, so she’s going through the same thing; clean and sign, clean and sign. Looks like you’re plowing through your list. If we don’t hear from you, have a happy holiday!
Oh, how exciting! I’m glad you found something so quickly that met all your needs.
Does this mean you’ll change the blog to “Rural Hennery”?
We’ll keep our fingers crossed that all goes well and send you some of our good real-estate juju. (We’ve been incredibly lucky buying and selling houses over the years, so I figure we have a little to share, since we’re firmly planted at last.)
Bpaul- we would but our 1 car garage looks small as it is. Kayaks and bikes hanging from the rafter just make it look miniscule.
Kristi - thanks for the good wishes. We made some pretty good progress today.
Anita- Thanks for the juju. We’re crossing our fingers. The seller is over seas so everything takes longer than you hope for. Hadn’t thought of that - guess I’ll have to come up with a new name for myself!
