Out Like a Lion
Mar 28th, 2008 by Laura
I honestly can’t remember if March came in like a lamb this year. I think so, but then again we were in the midst of moving and that whole first week is a blur.
Either way, March is definitely going out like a lion around here. It was snowing last night when I got home, and the night before. Not really sticking, but snowing nonetheless and creating a thin white layer on anything cold and metal. Mailboxes, cars, garbage cans, traffic lights, all of them coated in a thin layer of winter. And again this morning as I got ready to leave the house it was snowing and again sticking to fence posts, mail boxes, cars and roofs.
This is not normal for Everett. And I’m ready to protest this year. Normally I wouldn’t mind, being a skier and all. But my organic gardening class started last night, I’ve got seeds tucked into trays under lights and I want to get out and start digging up grass. But it’s snowing.
And that is enough to make me want another cup of coffee.

But what is normal? We got three inches of snow in Lake Stevens on APRIL 1 last year! Another mug of tea for me….
We’re getting this slushy snow/rain thing in Oregon, too. I told Andrew (age 3) that he would know Spring is here when the tulips outside his window bloom, but it’s been so stinking cold that they are staging a revolt! Andrew just keeps asking.
We’re not too far North of you and had the same weather today. It sucks! I just hope my newly sprouting veggies will be okay (radishes and onions)!
I can relate to the out like a lion winter. We got more snow in western Montana last night. But I did just get chickens so that adds a dash of sunshine to this holding-on winter.
Maybe there will be no winter? And this is the next ice age?
Ack!
I can’t bear the thought.
Please pass the hot tea now!
I drink way too much tea when it’s cold outside.
