Impatiently waiting

Not really. Today it rained, a nice soaking rain. And though it seems like we’ve been waiting for nice weather forever, it’s okay. It’s okay because the nice weather is coming later this week - it’s supposed to be almost 80 either Thursday or Friday.
Until then though, this mass of greenery on the sofa table is impatiently waiting to go outside for some hardening off and planting.
The tomatoes, basil and peppers are starting to run out of space and it’s time to get them outside.
Some of the tomatoes, those I got from Denise, are so ready that they’re already setting blooms. I know I need to pinch them off, but I haven’t had the heart yet.
What’s impatiently waiting at your house?
We have two purple tomatillos and two pepper plants waiting to go out. Of course, there are all of the starts that we put in two weeks ago that are about a week away from ready then there are the newbies we JUST put in on Sunday.
The only impatient ones are the tomatillos and peppers. If you need someone to take some of those GORGEOUS tomatoes off your hands… what?? No??? Just sayin… hehehehe…
Laura - I, too, have tomato plants waiting, plus some cukes that I started about few weeks ago - and assorted odds-and-ends that have sprouted from ‘old’ seeds that I planted when I needed a gardening fix back in early April (sigh). I made up my mind that this year I would buy local tomato plants instead of big box store plants; while on vacation last week, I took a trip over to see The Tomato Lady - and ended up with 15 plants! Don’t know where I’m going to put them all…
We are about the same latitude, Laura - I’m east of Spokane - and we’re supposed to be getting the same good weather this weekend - yay! I noticed this morning the ‘air’ is a bit different, leaning toward warm-and-humid rather than chilly & damp.

*sighs* Everything is waiting at the moment. But that’s because we just planted last week *laughs*. We’re very late getting started this year.
I don’t have anything waiting because, this being my very first year of veggie gardening, I was too intimidated to start seeds myself. However I’m hoping to score some transplants this weekend. As for the weather, it is all anybody is talking about here. Here in southwestern BC we’re all waiting like kids at Christmas for the promised 30 degree (Celsuis, that is) temps coming this weekend.
For me it’s my potatoes, artichokes and asparagus that has been impatiently waiting for me to finish some new beds. Things have basically hardened off in the greenhouse, so I’m starting to move things out to the beds that are done. The tomatoes will be much happier outside, and that will leave space for the peppers, eggplants and melons to bask in the greenhouse a while longer (possibly all season).
And FWIW, I’m going to leave the blossoms and tiny tomatoes on my plants. I’d rather have a few early ones, and the plants are already so tall I don’t think I’ll be sacrificing too much. I’ll let you know how it works out.
How in the world have your tomatoes gotten so big? Mine are still little stumps. Do you add any homemade fertilizer to them? Tomato envy…
