Odds and Ends

Tonight we ate the rockstar. It went from the garden to the steamer to our plates to our mouths in less than an hour. And we agreed that it was pretty much the best broccoli we’d ever had.
Luckily the rock star has groupies (side shoots) that we should be able to enjoy on Sunday night when we finally get to have our official OLS meal. I would have counted tonight but 1) the rice was from California and 2) we ate it before I could take photos.

The jam I made last weekend is the best jam I’ve ever made. It tastes like a sweet fresh strawberry that was just smashed and put on toast. Really. Seriously. I could eat it all day long with a spoon.
I can’t wait to make more and to try the same with raspberries and blackberries.

Oscar has started to come into his roosterness. Starting this week he treats me like another rooster, doing the rooster dance every time he sees me. It’s pretty damn funny considering he probably weighs at most 2 lbs. When I reach down to poke him he pecks my hand. When I pick him up he squawks and then when put down attacks my feet.
I keep telling him that it’s a good thing he’s cute and that it doesn’t hurt… Because we’re really not too proud to make miniature coq au vin.

I’ve been debating saying anything beyond putting it in my sidebar, but here goes. Hopefully no one will take this as anything more than it is.
After much thought over the last 6 months or so I decided to open an Etsy shop and sell prints of some of my favorite photos. It mostly came together because I decided to get prints made to hang in our kitchen and then thought huh? I wonder if anyone else would want these too?
I’ve just started adding photos to it, there are 10 now, but plan to fill it up in the next few weeks. I even made my first sale today! It was really cool to get that email.
