Daily Photo: Slugs

I know, I know. A lot of you spend a lot of time trying to figure out how to get rid of slugs. Around here (so far) we haven’t had a real slug problem in the gardens (knock on wood).
But when you go for a walk out in the tall grass they’re everywhere. Brown, black and yellow. I’ve yet to figure out if different colors are different types, ages, sexes?
In their own way they are fascinating. But you really shouldn’t pick them up as their slime is STICKY.
Ha! You need ducks! They looooove slugs. Although a duck with a mouthful of slug slime is pretty gross and funny all at once.
Will your chickens eat slugs? (Wishful thinking on my part?)
Hey! I was thinking the same thing. Let your chickens have at ‘em!
We don’t have slugs here. It’s too dry for them. They’d be dessicated in minutes! hehe
I’m not sure if the girls would eat slugs or not. I assume if they want to then they do on the days that we let the out. I’m not sure I’m willing to go slug picking for them - there are a lot of things I will do, but that’s not one of them…
Don’t bother…. our ducks get so excited when they find some slugs that all the girls come running. They are continuously baffled that the ducks think the slugs are at all interesting.
Now, dead mice left on the doorstep by the cats… that is real news to the girls (but not so much the ducks).
