I’m going to make you wait for the big news until I’m not so tired and can write coherently. Sorry
The photo above was taken in Riomaggiore in the Cinque Terre last October. It was the end of a hot beautiful day of hiking and walking from village to village with my mom. It was amazing. There are places that are magical and the Cinque Terre is one of them.
The villages are gorgeous, the people friendly, the culture built around the train schedule and the walking paths. We saw a lot that day including the coast, the traditional vineyards, small churches and bell towers, and steep paths with no handrails. I’d go back in a heart beat, but next time I’d stay for at least a week instead of 2 nights.
I could have lived without all the other Americans carry their Rick Steves guide books, but they were a minor annoyance. My recommendation would be to go during the shoulder season because that’s when we were there and I wouldn’t have wanted it to be any more crowded.
The rest of the photos from our time there are here.

I was there for a week in ’01. Still lots of tourists, but we stayed in one of the smaller villages and it wasn’t so bad. Fond memories and a lovely place indeed.
The light looks amazing!!!
Cute Tee.(:
Ooh, Cinque Terra’s at the top of my “return to” list, too!
I recognized it immediately. Spent a week in May there in 2006. Still my favorite place on earth! What I wouldn’t give to have one of those little terraced farms, looking out over the water!
