Pam wants to see the inside of our fridges and who am I to say no? I swear I didn’t reorganize just for this effort, if you look closely you can tell just how dirty our shelves are (eew!).
Looking at this picture makes me realize that our fridge is strangely empty this time of year. That’s mostly due to the fact that we’re eating veggies we froze last summer as well as carrots/leeks/salad greens straight from the garden.
In the produce drawer on the left is mainly veggies from the farmer’s market a couple weeks ago (cabbage, turnips, etc) and organic celery (CA) and herbs (WA). The drawer on the left is mostly apples from WA as well as artichokes from CA. Yes there are a lot of pickles in there – we like variety, what can I say?
The rest is a mix of local milk/cream in glass bottles, local and regional cheeses, bread from the bakery in Everett, eggs (a bit overwhelmed right now), bacon (white paper), venison sausage and rendered leaf lard. Plus a few things that we just can’t give up – sandwich meat (local, but not non-CAFO), limeade, tortillas, etc.
I didn’t take a photo of the door as it’s truly frightening. We have a fair number of condiments in there, some local, some homemade and many not. That door needs some attention, but it’s not happening any time soon.
So what’s in your fridge?

You don’t want to know. Nothing like that, hehe. Nothing close.
Very impressive on your end.
When I read the first line of the post, I thought the same thing – my fridge is very “off” this time of year – mostly dairy and a couple jam jars, etc. Eating off our stores makes for some odd images
Yours looks very orderly – mine is somewhat helter-skelter (ducks in shame)
Thanks for sharing! Now, that is a beautifully organized and filled fridge. Filled with just what you need to make good-for-you dinners. I didn’t show my doors either!
Nice fridge! Well organized, like Pam’s. There is just no way mine could stay organized. Hubby buys so much stuff for his creations, it’s all we can do to pack it in somewhere, let alone try to keep it organized.
Love it. I especially love all the things in jars without labels. I love looking in my fridge & pantry and every week I see fewer and fewer things with labels, soon enough there won’t be an.
I made Mangochild’s whole wheat bread and it turned out just like she said it would. This is indeed a miracle. Maybe my bad breadmaking karma is finally gone. I actually did it.
Local lunchmeat! Mind sharing your source?
Sinfonian :: don’t be too fast with the compliments – it looks NOTHING like that organized in the summer when we’re harvesting the main garden crops.
Mangochild :: Glad to know we’re not the only ones with a mostly empty fridge these days. It’s not usually so neat – just a side effect of being gone for a while, I felt compelled to “tidy it up” before I left town.
Pam :: Thanks! The door is truly scary around here…
Shabby Girl :: that’s how ours is the other 8 months out of the year.
Chiot’s Run :: I totally love not having labels too.
Kathleen :: go you! glad your bread turned out!
Lauren :: Nothing special, just Hempler’s black forest ham from the local Haggen’s.
Much neater than mine!
Why bread in fridge?
EJ :: I keep bread in the fridge (unless I want it crusty) as it keeps it from molding for longer. It’s humid around here.
