There’s something about the first asparagus that makes it feel like spring.
I didn’t grow that asparagus, I got it at the farmer’s market this morning. It was delicious with just a quick steam. The pork chops were rubbed with sage, thyme, kosher salt, pepper and olive oil and then grilled. The salad included lettuce and green onion from the garden and purple radishes from the market.
Mmmmm.

But the local farmer grew it right? And that means that spring is here in full force enough to yield the first bits of harvest – yey!! After so many months, it is very welcome.
That picture is lovely! I’ve had asparagus for two weeks in a row now, I love this time of the year!
What a great looking meal! It’s so cool when you can go out and harvest your own veggies for salads. I’m hoping to do that today!
Isn’t all this spring abundance wonderful!
Have you ever tried brining pork chops. I like pork chops a lot more now that we do. Make’s them moister and it’s easy to do. Asparagus is the gift of spring.
I LOVE asparagus. I planted a new bed of asparagus this year (25 crowns) and I see the first few spears coming up. Can’t wait to start harvesting — bummer that I need to wait a few years. At least we’re doing well with our fresh greens.
