When an egg isn’t just an egg

After a while eggs from your hens stop being so special. At some point they’re eggs and you take them for granted – I find myself forgetting just how bad your average American egg is until confronted with one somewhere else. Not to say that we don’t appreciate our eggs, we do, we definitely do. [...]

Test Lens :: Hen Photos

The kit lens that came with my Rebel two years ago stopped focusing consistently earlier this summer. I’m pretty sure it needs to be cleaned, but as it’s my only lens I decided that I “needed” a new one. I picked up the 17-85mm through my mom when we were in MN in July and [...]

{010:365} Feathered Helpers

Cleaning the hen shack would be so much easier if the girls didn’t insist on helping…

Usually this time of year I would just be forking out the really dirty straw under the roost bars once a month or so. Unfortunately with all the snow and ice we had the hens were inside 24×7 for 3 [...]
