Going to the Beach, Fort Ebey, Whidbey Island I’m sometimes at a loss as to what to show people when they come to visit. When it’s your youngest brother and his two dogs, it can make the decision even harder. On Monday, Sam and I took the three dogs (Sky, Jake and Marley) out to [...] Mike and Jake are cuddling on the couch while we watch bad Tuesday night TV. I’d feel left out except that they’re just so cute together… Mike worked the dogs into the ground this week on his quest to finish 1/4 mile of fencing in just 6 days. We finished the last gate about 6:30 tonight, just as it started to rain (well pour). I can be single-minded in pursuit of a goal, but Mike seriously put me to shame with this [...] We had dinner with Mike’s mom tonight (hi Sharon!) and then came home with her 6 month old puppy Riley. She’s headed to Phoenix for just 2.5 weeks to visit Mike’s sister and Riley is staying with us. He’s 20 pounds of dust mop cuteness and we’re looking forward to having him around. Riley and Jake [...] Here I am, rendering lard. Who’d have thought? I’ll post photos later this week when the whole process is done. I decided to do it on the stovetop in my 9.5 quart dutch oven. So far so good, the whole house is starting to smell good – vaguely like bacon. Tonight the fog rolled in as [...] There are times that I know that moving here was the right decision. Most of the time I believe it and I feel it, but nights like tonight I know it deep in my bones and my soul. Mike left this morning on his annual elk hunting trip. I’m home alone tonight, then my dad arrives [...] You wouldn’t know it to see him napping on the couch with Mike, but Jake had a big weekend. We were out at our friends’ cabin on Whibey Island for most of it and when we’re there we do a little of this and a little of that. On Sunday morning we went for a mountain [...] |
